Mr. Visco, and most of the Prodi government have now become members of the so called Democratic Party, who presented itself as a modern, even “liberal”, political force completely and definitively detached from the communist roots of one of its two founding parties. It is clear that some of the most basic elements of the communist ideology, that is the prevalence of the “social good” over individual rights and individual freedom, is still untarnished and actively directs government policy.
